OKWU Basketball Heads to Evangel

Oklahoma Wesleyan basketball heads on the road for the final time this season as both Eagle squads take on Evangel University on Thursday.
OKWU is wrapping up a quick two-game road trip that started in York, Nebraska on Saturday. The Eagles split that doubleheader, the women’s team lost by four and the men won by 26.
The Lady Eagles enter the contest with a record of 12-14 and 9-11 in the KCAC. They are ninth in the conference standings, only the top eight qualify for the conference tournament. The Lady Eagles are two games back with two games left but still have a path to slide into the top eight. Head coach Heidi Messer talks about how crucial these last two games are.
The Lady Eagles lost at home to Evangel on Jan. 22, 74-67.
The OKWU men enter the contest as the top team in the KCAC. They are 20-6 on the season and 17-3 in conference play. They have won 11 straight, nine by double digits. With a squad that had fought injuries throughout the season, head coach Donnie Bostwick talks about how getting his players healthy again and watching his younger players grow has put the pieces together.
The Eagles hung 103 points on Evangel on Jan. 22 in Bartlesville in a 103-71 win.
The women will get the night started in Springfield, Missouri with a 5 p.m. tip-off. The men’s game will follow at 7 p.m. Coverage of the doubleheader can be heard on Sports Talk 99.1 FM – KPGM.
