Jenks Nips Bruins in Close Games

Bartlesville High basketball played a couple entertaining games during a senior night double-header at home against Jenks, but both the Lady Bruins and Bruins fell in close games on Monday night at Bruin Field House.
On the girl’s side, Bartlesville lost to Jenks, 74-62. The final 12-point margin is deceptive, as BHS led late, but the Trojans ended the game on a 14-0 run over the final 4.5 minutes.
Senior Alayah Lunn led the way for BHS. Lunn had 19, including three first half three-pointers. The game was tied at 34 at halftime. A Jenks’ switch into a zone defense slowed down what had been good BHS offense.
Despite that, BHS still led in the fourth quarter on this Kennedy Nubel layup.
The loss means Bartlesville will be the 5-seed out of 6A District 4.
On the guy’s side, BHS again came close but fell 51-50 to the Trojans.
It was an inspired rally in the third quarter that made Bruin Field House come alive. Bartlesville trailed by 19 after a mini-Jenks run to begin the second half. Senior Nash Zervas would hit three three-pointers in the frame to get the lid off the bucket.
Freshman Jordan Turner would hit this three to draw even closer early in the fourth.
Bartlesville couldn’t get a ton closer. Jenks made enough free throws to hold off the Bruin rally, as a three-pointer from Zervas made the final margin one at the buzzer.
After the game head coach Tommy DeSalme.
Bruins had multiple wide-open threes not fall in the first half and only managed one point in the fourth quarter. Bartlesville outscored Jenks 37-24 in the second half.
Both Bartlesville teams wrap up the regular season with a non-District game at Ponca City on Friday.
